A Year Ago A Great Man Died…

Pope John Paul II passed away last year on this date. Immediately after his death, many were calling him “John Paul the Great.” His impact on theology, politics, economics, and a whole host of other fields, cannot be contained in this small post.

Today Jennifer and I went to The Our Lady of Consolation Shrine with Jonathan and Carmel, and on our way home we stopped by at a Catholic cemetery. We visited different graves and prayed for all the souls in the cemetery. We took a few photos, which was a way for us to connect with fellow holy souls, all of whom we never knew. On the way home we prayed the Office of the dead for John Paul II. The whole day reminded me of the communion of saints and the deep connection with have with fellow Christians in Christ.

A year ago, as John Paul II was passing away, many people visited Ancient and Future Catholic Musings, Jonathan’s blog, and left their tributes to John Paul II. They show that people of all faiths deeply loved this man. These posts are now archived at A Tribute to Pope John Paul II: Prayers and Tributes.

I took the photo above at the cemetery itself. Please pray for all the faithful departed.

Would love to hear from you why you seem to have decided to make the jump to WordPress. I’ve contemplated doing so myself, so pros and cons would be appreciated. Would also love to hear why any of you out there prefer one blogging tool versus another…thanks!

By the way, I also posted this on your Beta site, just to be sure you see it…sorry about that… :)
