Remember the old Saturday Night Live sketch where Bill Murray and Steve Martin stare at the camera for like two minutes just saying “What the hell is that thing?” Genius.
Well I have to ask, what the hell is that thing?
Take your best guesses, than go here for an explanation.
If you love icons, stained glass, and statues as much as I do, you will probably be just as sad as I am when you find out what the hell that thing is…
Maybe I will just love it, in the same way I love tacky mid-century mod… Maybe not.

I love that bit. Pure genius indeed.
The church building in the link, however, looks more like “Epcot Center Cathedral” than “Theology of the Body Cathedral.”

Epcot Center Cathedral. Good one!
To be fair, I am open to styles of church building that include modern elements like some of the great and amazing glass work of today, I am a fan of skylights and what not… But can’t they be cruciform with a traditional altar?

While I am admittedly a fan of dark, ancient churches aglow with ikons before which burn long tapers
(real ones, not the push-button votive lights!), and I positively go coo-coo over medieval stained glass windows, you know, SOME modern Catholic churches “ain’t half bad”. Really, the only thing I’d ask is that when it comes to the Crucifix, which is THE symbol of our Holy Faith, it should look like…well…a whole crucifix! But, maybe I’m not seeing it just right or with modern eyes…after all, I’m over half a century old. LOL!

Well Disneyland has no more room to grow and DisneyWorld is fast approaching capacity, maybe the builders needed work.
You have to give the design team credit, though, they tried.
