Sure is. Wendy’s does a fish sandwich during Lent… And certain corporate restaraunts I have worked for always planned to have more seafood avaialable on the menu and in the kitchen during Lent. One Olive Garden at which I worked used to make pans of veggie lasagna - not on the menu - on Fridays just to offer as a special those days.
I routinely hear of others who are or were non-practicing like I was (for years) who ate fish on fridays (like I did)… Perhaps we were hedging our bets?

Yup! Perfectly legit.
One of the things I immediately noticed upon moving from Oklahoma to Wisconsin was the dramatic difference in the restaurants and grocery stores with regard to those customers observing Lent. From Hot Cross Buns (yum!) to extensive “Lent” menus to increased availability of fish and other seafood items, etc.
And then, of course, the Friday Fish Fry is part of the religion in Southeastern Wisconsin! Serb Hall, operated by the (large) Serbian Orthodox Church in Milwaukee probably does the best, and most famous — but many, if not most area restaurants offer a fish fry on Friday evenings — and not only during Lent! As do many clubs, organizations, etc., etc., etc.

Friday is Clam Chowder Day! If I go to a restaurant on a Friday and the soup de jour is not clam chowder I get upset. Around here all the restaurants have all-you-can-eat fried fish on Fridays, usually year round.

I go to Taco Bell every Friday during Lent for a cheese quesadilla. They’re cheap and meat free!
