This flippin’ settles it!
From a recent post over at Clerical Whispers (or as I like to call it “All the Gossip & Bad News that Fits in Print”)
The call to Braxton to resign was lauded by a national Catholic reform group, Call To Action, based near Chicago.
“We applaud the courage of the Catholic priests in the Belleville Diocese,” the group said in a released statement. “This action, done in times of church crisis, only occurs in rare instances such as when a group of Boston priests similarly came together to call for Cardinal Law’s resignation after massive revelations of sexual abuse.”
Cardinal Bernard F. Law resigned a few months after he received a “no confidence” letter signed by 58 Boston area priests, a relatively small percentage of those assigned to the urban area.
Once CTA is on your side and you are trying to bring the sex abuse scandals into the debate, you lose all my confidence.
+Braxton, Your Grace, put out the help wanted sign and fire these bums. You need priests favored by CTA like you need a pack of adult unhousetrained mastiffs.

Cringe. Cringe. Cringe.

It just occurs to me that the Episcopal denomination is in need of some clergy as they attempt to set up shop and re-assert themselves into the San Joaquin Diocese…
I smell a perfect match!

haha. I was just thinking how much this vid reminded me of TEC “liturgies” I experienced in the Bay Area.

Oh how I wish I could believe that those who get it wrong on WO could also maintain orthodoxy on matters of faith as many insist as being possible. How I wish I could believe there is no connection between the various innovations, but sadly, it seems there is altogether little evidence to the contrary.

You are coming around BF! Put those swim trunks on already!

thanks, as always for the invite. No coming around on the subject at hand. Long held position.

That’s a good foundation then…
We will have the dry towels ready when you are. The grill always has some charcoal in it for a riverside cookout… Keep it in the back of your mind, under your mitre.

Like many others, I have a John 17 dream and I don’t swim alone. It’s a team sport. End of story.
March 16, 2008 at 2:33 am |
BF, Ok, bring your whole diocese. Plenty of room and the water is fine!
March 16, 2008 at 2:45 am |
Cool! Then you and I could attend the “mass” taped above and barf together. Unity!
March 16, 2008 at 3:16 am |
Understand, BF, that if and when you swim up to my encampment on the banks of the Tiber, we are a little more militant crowd.
If we attend that fiasco, we will be doing more than barfing.
March 16, 2008 at 12:51 pm |
Just because the tape says these are “Roman Catholic” priests means nothing. They have been excommunicated.
March 16, 2008 at 3:58 pm |
BF, I do hope that you understand a bunch of dissidents parading around with scarves over the albs they bought mail order at Almy doesn’t mean anything. When you have a magisterium, a dissident is a dissident is a dissident. We don’t have any trouble spotting and calling ours out.
RE: “Like many others I have a John 17 dream and I don’t swim alone”
BP,
Fair enough. Hardly the end of the story.
It has happened.
It has been done.
It has been done recently.
Its about to happen.
There are opportunities to get in on it possibly happening.
Get the whole team ready and start working – we have enough beach towels for everyone to dry off.

Dear ASimpleSinner, Fr. J, & other brothers
The vision is much larger than just one man, or even of any one particular jurisdiction, for it is not the vision of any man, but of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Himself.
This thread is not the place.
The Lord bless you all. May your Holy Week be blessed.

Anything broader than the Catholic Church don’t exist, or, better, exists only as a dream, an idea, a whisper.
March 17, 2008 at 1:55 am |
Irenaeus, With all due respect, you mis-read my post.
March 17, 2008 at 5:26 am |
Bp Fick, you are entitled to be cryptic and you dont owe us explanations or justifications. Those are reserved for your face to face with the Lord. Just know that we would be thrilled to have you in the Catholic Church. We really do rejoice over every soul that finds his way into Communion with the pope and the rest of the family. But, short of that, we are glad to get to know you and have you visit Per Christum.
It is interesting Bp. that the one who said “Anything broader than the Catholic Church doesnt exist, or, better, exists only as a dream, an idea, a whisper” is an Evangelical, another gentleman we are getting to know here at PC.
Blessed Holy Week to you both.

Fr J.
I did not mean to be cryptic. Alright, let’s see if we can clear this up.
I said, “The vision is much larger than just one man, or even of any one particular jurisdiction” when what I should said, “The vision is much larger than just one man, or even of any one particular jurisdiction (meaning: my own jurisdiction or even the entire tradition to which I belong). ” This was my intent.
Irenaeus then took my comment to imply something I did not intend to say.
Hope that clarifies.
But just for the record, though I have never initiated this conversation and while I have tried to deflect or respond to the oft repeated offers to “come swimming” with grace, I find these injections to be mostly out of place. While I confess to enjoying this blog and deeply appreciate its content and I balance that with an understanding of the enthusiasm of the hosts and posters here and their honest zeal, I admit, therefore, to sensing that my occasional posts result in little contribution to the topic or subject at hand but altogether too often quickly get spiraled into the off topic conversation concerning my own personal place in the Kingdom of God. This is regretful.

Simple Sinner,
You have to warn people about your videos. I could only stomach 43 seconds of that video before I had the urge to projectile vomit all over the monitor.
