Blessed Metod Dominik Trčka, 1886-1959

Succumbed to pneumonia on this date back in 1959 in a Czechoslovakian prison. Illness was contracted when confined to solitary confinement as punishment for singing a Christmas carol. See also my favorite photo of him - Blessed Metod Dominik Trčka in a horse-drawn cart.

    Having had a beard for a couple decades, I have an automatic respect for anyone who can keep one that well trimmed. It’s not as easy as it looks.

    I can only imagine!

    My scraggly attempts at a beard that I had a go at as a freshman in college were so miserably sad, I never came ANYWHERE close to having such a full set of whiskers!
