Dear all,
It is with great joy and hope that I write this post, for my brother is now a confirmed soldier of Christ.
My brother, Victor Flores, received the sacrament of Confirmation this past Monday (April 09) along with 60+ other young boys and girls. It was a beautiful celebration! All the people were fervently singing and praying; I have no doubt in my mind that the Holy Spirit was present in that holy place and that He was working in us.
The Mass was celebrated by Bishop Thomas J. Paprocki of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the concelebrants were:
- Father Jason Malave, Pastor of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church
- Father Tirso Villaverde, Associate Pastor
- Father Michael Goergen
- Father Eduardo Pinzon, S.J.
My brother chose Saint Ignatius of Loyola as his confirmation name and my girlfriend was his sponsor.
Please pray for my brother and for the other boys and girls that were confirmed in the Spirit.

Congratulations to your brother - From one Ignatius to another!
Now as to the priests in the photo seated near the bishop. The one on the end on the left… Is that a chasu-alb he is sporting?

Yes, it is; I haven’t asked him why he wears it though. Maybe it’s a Filipino thing.

Congratulations to Victor Ignatius, and to you Jorge, for encouraging him and helping him along in his faith, and to your girlfriend for being his sponsor. It is great to see family and friends being involved in such a great moment. Thanks for posting this. It is great to see excitement about confirmation…it seems at times it is viewed as “graduation from Church,” when in reality it is something very special!

I wish the newly confirmed many blessed years! May they be illumined by the Holy Ghost more and more each day!

I take it you are the one in the sweater in the photo with the priest and your brother?
All I can say, Jorge, is the same as any Italian Granny would say (or Jewish one for that matter) “Eat! Eat! Nobody likes a skinny Santa! You with all that running!”

ASimpleSinner:
Yes, that is me alright.
I’m actually kind of weird. You see, every time I stop training for a relatively long time –such as when the competition season is over–I LOSE weight instead of GAIN weight. And as soon as I resume training I GAIN weight.
Now, don’t think that I don’t eat well. I do eat well. My girlfriend even tells me that I eat like an African wild Dog!

As the owner of a Basenji (which I insist is still rather wild) I can attest, the girl does eat!
Still, skinny, chubby guys like me get nervous around people who are too thin… I always just want to make em eat a pizza and wash it down with a milkshake or something. You raise the bar too high for those of us with french-fry addictions!
