McCain Picks Palin

John McCain has picked Sarah Palin, the governor of Alaska, as his vice-presidential running mate. She looks like a strong pro-life candidate, a Washington outsider, and, of course, female, which is probably a smart move on McCain’s part designed to attract more moderate Hillary voters. Even if this doesn’t work to attract Hillary voters, Palin seems energetic (as opposed to the way McCain seems sometimes), and willing to fight against the corruption and greed that have taken over many Republicans in the last few years (especially in her home state of Alaska).

UPDATE: It seems a lot of conservatives in the blogosphere are excited about this. Of course, let’s not start swooning like some on the Democratic side; Palin hasn’t used messianic tones yet! At Vox-Nova, radicalcatholicmom has worked with Palin in Alaska, and offers some positive, yet honest, reflections about Palin, even though RCM was probably going to vote for Obama. I think Palin may very well cause some Catholic Obama supporters to take another look at McCain, because she is so strongly pro-life and yet comes across more populist than McCain (whether she is, we shall see, of course). She does lack experience, but I can see your “heartland” Americans saying “better a Washington outsider running for vice-president without experience, than a Washington insider running for president without experience. ” Upon reflection, I think this is a bold, but very, very, smart move on McCain’s part. Heck, Palin even congratulated Hillary Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro for their work for the advancement of women! This is not politics-as-usual!

I love her, or at least I love the idea of her. And I don’t want to be brought down off my cloud. I guess this is how the Obama supporters felt when they first laid eyes on him. She’s so great for so many reasons. As a woman, I think she’s an INCREDIBLE role model. I’m so excited about this choice!

Frankly, I’m thrilled over Mr. McCain’s choice…and amused - what a sneaky little trick he played! LOL Caught us all by surprise!
Honestly, for me as a Catholic, there is no question: I must vote Republican. It seems to me that the Republican ticket stands closest to the values I hold true and dear as a Christian. The Democrats have simply gone too far Left, too far off the moral track.
