In April of this year I sat down with Dave Hartline (of The Catholic Report), and interviewed him about his book The Tide Is Turning Toward Catholicism. Dave’s book is about the good news that is happening in the Church, which in my opinion, we always need to hear, because a) there is a lot of good news out there, and b) we can so easily get caught up in what is wrong in the Church. Dave’s book is always a good corrective to some of the negativity and gloom that seems to overtake the Catholic blogsophere. Neither Dave nor I are pollyannaish, and we certainly discuss negative developments, but we can’t ignore the positive things that are happening! I mean, just imagine had we lived during the Arian controversy, the Avignon papacy, or during the reign of some of the Renaissance popes! We are seeing a steady overall improvement in liturgy, catechesis, devotion, and other areas. In this interview I ask Dave a few questions about his book and the positive developments in the Church.
