The Octave of Easter – Time for a Rest
March 24, 2008I hope everyone is having a blessed Easter season. I am very excited during this Easter season. Jennifer and I sponsored two candidates in RCIA, and they were received into the Church on Easter. Some of Per Christum’s web friends have entered the Catholic Church. Welcome to Nana Ruth, and all others who entered the Holy Catholic Church this Easter. The Easter vigil was beautiful, and as always, I understand the meaning of the resurrection when I worship Christ at the vigil. I have a few thoughts on the resurrection I want to share in a few weeks.
Because I teach at a Catholic school, the octave of Easter is when I have my spring break. I have been very busy lately with work, and church commitments (and online work), and still have things I need to catch up on. One way I am feasting during the Easter octave this year is to get some rest, and see my family. And right after the Octave, I am getting up at 5:00 AM to help chaperone 50 students on a trip to Washington DC (not sure if this counts as rest or not; I would appreciate your prayers for safe travel, etc). So, this week, and into next, I may be a little slow in getting back to emails, and may not post as much (if at all), but I will be celebrating the octave of the “solemnity of solemnities” in my own way! Christ is Risen! I get into a little more detail about my relaxation plans on my personal blog (with some of my non-theological thoughts, updated only occasionally), An Aid to Memory.
Is anybody else doing anything special or observing a particular way of feasting this Easter season?
The Democracy of the Dead (Blog Posts)
March 14, 2008Since I have been editing past blog entries to fix images, I have had the opportunity to reread old blog posts here at Per Christum. We are over 2 years old, and there is a lot of nice material in our archives that our current readers may or may not be familiar with. If you have time, have a look over some of the posts in our archives (see side bar). Note that I am still working to update old images, so the archives may not be as colorful as the new posts, yet!
To All Contributors
March 11, 2008I sent an email out to every contributor yesterday via the Google group, but nobody has gotten back to me, so I hope it went out. You cannot use your google login anymore. You need to get a new one from WordPress.com
Go to www.wordpress.com. Choose a name and password. Choose “just sign me up with a login” or something to that effect, submit your information, and then let me know that you have signed up, and which email you have used. You can email me or just place it in the comments here. I can add you once I know that you have signed up.
There will be some growing pains as we move over to WordPress I know. I will help any contributor work WordPress by email or phone if needed, so please let me know.
As for images, it looks like some are working and some aren’t. The images and old posts are still available at perchristumblog.blogspot.com (that blog will be up indefinitely), and are all saved on the server with another name, so the images are available. We may have to just go back and edit them by hand, although I will help others with theirs so we get can work our way back ASAP.
UPDATE: I will be fixing the images of past entries over the next few weeks, as well as getting the youtube videos fixed too (since WordPress deals with youtube differently than blogger. I will also be working on the blogroll and getting a nice-looking design ready. Current posts should be fine and without problem, but please be patient as I get past entries fixed up (and note that you may have to relink to past entries/images).
Well, We’re Here
March 10, 2008Well folks, we are now on WordPress. Everything worked pretty smoothly as I began to import the old blogger stuff, so I decided to just complete the process while things were working well for me! Right now, a lot of the posts aren’t set to the old authors, but WordPress is so handy, that as soon as new people sign on, I can tell WordPress who posted all the posts over at blogger! Nice!
Please Excuse the Mess
March 10, 2008God willing, Per Christum is changing over to a WordPress format over the next few days. The address (blog.ancient-future.net) will not change. However, there may be a few technical issues as we complete this process, as contributors get registered for the new blog, and old posts/comments are imported.
In order to import our old posts to WordPress, we may have to change over this blog to a blogspot address for a brief period. After that, it is just a matter of changing some DNS settings and paying WordPress.com If blog.ancient-future.net does not return a blog, try perchristumblog.blogspot.com.
Thanks for your patience as we complete the move. And be aware that I will retain all the links we currently have, so if you’re not on our blogroll for a few days or weeks, know that I will be rebuilding that too!
Send us Your Blogs
February 5, 2008I ask our readers to please do me a favor, and post your blog addresses in the comments section of this post. I haven’t updated the blog links in the side bar for awhile, and I want to do that now. Since work, married life, and the administrative/editing tasks of running our various Catholic websites keeps me pretty busy, I haven’t gotten around to linking to all the blogs that I want to here on Per Christum. So please, post your blog address in the comments section for this post, or if you read interesting blogs you think we should link to in our side bar, please let me know. I hope to get around to adding these links to our template in the next week!
P.S. – Don’t feel as if you are shamelessly promoting your blog if you post it. Unlike shameless promoting, I have asked you to promote your blog!
